Testimonials

  • My family spent the day climbing with team at Aspen Expeditions. It was an amazing day - fun, challenging, educational and our guides were great. Highly recommend spending the day, or more, with Amos and his crew.

  • I finally just finished putting away my gear from last week's trip to Aspen, and I didn't want to start the week without taking a moment to thank Aspen Expeditions for another unforgettable week in the mountains.  I especially want to recognize all of Jack Cody's efforts in making sure each trip is better than the last - this was my fifth year climbing with Jack, and every year he impresses me with his knowledge, patience and energy.  I am particularly grateful for all the time and research he puts in to come up with new missions each time I'm in town, and for showing me spectacular places most visitors to Aspen (and even some locals) never get to see.  It's that kind of attention and dedication that keeps me coming back as a client year after year.

  • Wow! What a fantastic experience. Britt took me up the Grotto Wall Traverse last summer and I'm still thinking about it these few months later. The combination of his cool confidence, the solid rock, varied climbing, and the situation of the route made this senior citizen one happy dude.

  • I have been a customer of Aspen Expeditions for a solid 15+ years, with many, many dozens of trips, Winter and Summer.

Whether it's for skiing the back country, climbing or grabbing peaks, AE is absolutely my goto outfit. With or without my kids in tow.

The guides are all knowledgeable, capable and well trained. And fun!

    Solid recommendation. A+

  • Extraordinary experiences! Just returned from our second hut trip guided by Britt Ruegger and Sammy Podhurst of Aspen Expeditions and we already are planning our next trip with them. Aspen Expeditions’ guides expertise in the backcountry, planning of all trip details, and enthusiasm and personalities make these hut trips so enjoyable and inspire us to trek deeper into the backcountry and experience challenging, gorgeous terrain. We would recommend Aspen Expeditions to both experienced backcountry explorers and people who want to see all that the area has to offer in terms of skiing, outdoor physical activities, and spectacular settings.

  • I have been on numerous different types of trips with the guys (and gals) at Aspen Expeditions. The team is world class in terms of guiding but also friendly and approachable. Whether it is something local in and around Aspen, or a bigger trip internationally these guys deserve to be a one stop call for any trip you are looking at. Each guide I have been out with has been a blast and I enjoy spending my free days in the mountains with all of them. I give them all top marks and think they have earned their spot as one of the premier guiding services.

As an update, I recently returned from a week long trip to Iceland with Amos and Sammy. I can say hands down it was one of the best trips of my life. Can't say enough good things about this shop or these guides. I will use them for any and all adventures.

  • Crossing the Maroon Bell’s Traverse with guide extraordinaire Jack Cody was an absolute treat for me and my 17-year-old son.

Jack was the perfect guide.  He made the day one of my most memorable on a mountain and Jack had a great impact on my son.  Reflecting on our day, I just can’t get over the intimate knowledge Jack has of the route.  I mean he knew precisely the right hand hold on so many occasions; his descriptions on how to move through countless cracks and overhangs were perfect, and, he knew which individual rocks should be avoided!  He keeps it all straight, and given the magnitude of that mountain and complexity of the routes makes it even more impressive.  The route Jack lead us on was special.  The spectacular positions on the ridge were exhilarating, made only better because of the safety of a belay by a world class mountaineer, Jack Cody.  Our day got really exciting when we encountered snow and ice descending Maroon Peak.  Jack anticipated this and he brought all the gear we needed, crampons and ski poles to use just in case.  He was thinking way ahead to assure our safety and success.

Jack’s love of the mountains, the Bells, the Elk Mountains and his fitness and enthusiasm for adventure are contagious.
