Aspen to Crested Butte Mountain Trek

This scenic mountain trek from Aspen to Crested Butte begins at the entrance to the Maroon Bells Wilderness - some of the most beautiful and extensively photographed peaks in North America.

You'll travel up the West Maroon Valley past Maroon Lake & Crater Lake. As the trail meanders through a variety of terrain from Aspen & Pine tree forests to wildflower fields, you'll enjoy stunning views of North and South Maroon Bells as well as Pyramid Peak! Approximately 4-5 hours into the hike, you'll ascend a fairly strenuous and exposed stretch of trail to cross West Maroon Pass (12,490 ft.) into the Schofield basin. Renowned for its fields of beautiful wildflowers, you'll meander through the high alpine fields that gradually bring you down to the Crested Butte side, where you will be met by a shuttle service.

Spend the night in Crested Butte and take a private shuttle back the next day, or opt for a two-day hiking/camping loop back to Aspen!
