Gravel Biking Hut Trip

Join us on a guided hut to hut gravel bikepacking experience! Colorado's 10th Mountain Division Hut System offers limitless ways to explore the Rocky Mountain backcountry with the comfort of a comfy bed and rustic roof overhead. Either stay in one hut or link together several, all in the company of a knowledgeable guide. The 10th Mountain Huts can also be accessed on foot to create a unique, backcountry backpacking experience. Come with us this August 28th - 30th or September 11th - 13th for the Eagle to Aspen biking hut trip. 

  • Distance / Elevation
      • Option 1: Eagle to Peter Estin Hut = 24 miles of flat to slightly pitched road/gravel/dirt 
      • Option 2: Yeoman Park Campground to Peter Estin Hut = 8 miles of grind on somewhat rough road at times 
      • Peter Estin Hut to Harry Gates = 10.3 miles of glorious downhill
      • Option 1: Harry Gates to Basalt = 32.3 miles of downhill dirt/gravel and then all pavement with one short grind around Ruedi - then downhill to Basalt 
      • Option 2: Harry Gates to Beyul = 11.25 miles of downhill dirt/gravel 

    There are also additional riding and hiking options out of each hut.

    Cancellation policy:

    AE requires a credit card to hold your reservation. Then full payment is due 30 days before the trip start date.  We do charge a 3.5% fee for all service products purchased with a credit card over $3000. If you choose to cancel within 30 days of your scheduled trip, you will be charged full price. If your guide decides that weather makes your scheduled trip a no-go, we will work with you to reschedule, give you a credit, or refund your trip. Travel Guard insurance is highly recommended and is available via our website homepage.

    Risk Management

    Please note: AEW's number one priority is your safety. Many conditions affect our guides' decisions in the mountains, including client fitness and comfort, weather conditions and route conditions. There are inherent hazards in mountain travel such as inclement weather, avalanches, rock fall, ice fall that our guides manage yet cannot eliminate. The combination of our guides' formal training and wealth of experience assures that their sound decision creates an enjoyable and safe mountain experience. Aspen Expeditions reserves the right to turn around or change routes without refunds or credits under any conditions.
